Centura lists York Smoke in the York range: a 12″ x 24″ porcelain tile. It carries the broken, tonal surface of natural stone, finished with a matte surface that holds light rather than throwing it back. Expect variation of V3, a moderate spread of tone that gives the installation obvious movement piece to piece. The 12″ x 24″ format means fewer joints across a floor, so the eye is not pulled to a grid. Because it is frost resistant, it can carry an interior floor out onto a covered patio or three-season room. It is approved for floor and wall installation, so wall and floor areas of the same room can be tiled from one order. Edges are cushioned, not rectified, which means a wider joint and more tolerance for an uneven substrate. The body measures 9 mm. Centura matches it to grout 929 Charcoal Gray. One box contains 8 pieces, enough for 15.5 sq ft, or 1.9376 sq ft a piece.
