York Anthracite is a 12″ x 24″ porcelain tile from Centura’s York range. It carries the broken, tonal surface of natural stone, finished with a matte surface that holds light rather than throwing it back. Centura rates shade variation at V3, a moderate spread of tone that gives the installation obvious movement piece to piece. At 12″ x 24″, it covers ground with fewer grout lines than a small format, which keeps a room reading as one surface. The body is frost resistant, which opens up porches, garages, balconies and other areas that drop below freezing. Centura rates it for floors and walls, so one tile can carry a shower wall down onto the floor with no change of material. The edges are cushioned rather than rectified, so allow a slightly wider grout joint. The body measures 9 mm. Centura matches it to grout 941 – Raven. It ships 8 pieces to a box, covering 15.5 sq ft, or 1.9376 sq ft a piece.
