Marvel Gems Terrazzo Black belongs to Centura’s Marvel Gems range and measures 24″ x 24″. It carries the chipped aggregate of terrazzo, finished with a matte surface that holds light rather than throwing it back. Expect variation of V2, a slight shift in tone between pieces that keeps the surface from looking printed. The 24″ x 24″ format means fewer joints across a floor, so the eye is not pulled to a grid. Centura tests it at R10, which covers floors that see occasional water such as kitchens, bathrooms and entry halls. Because it is frost resistant, it can carry an interior floor out onto a covered patio or three-season room. Floor and wall use are both covered, useful where a feature wall and the floor beneath it need to match exactly. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, so it sets with a joint of roughly 2 to 3 mm over a flat substrate. The body measures 9.5 mm. The suggested grout is 941 – Raven. Boxes hold 3 pieces and cover 11.45 sq ft, or 3.8153 sq ft a piece.
