Centura lists Cortina Honey in the Cortina range: a 6″ x 36″ porcelain tile. Centura gives it a matte surface that holds light rather than throwing it back. Centura rates shade variation at V4, a wide spread where individual pieces differ markedly, so the tile should be dry-laid from several boxes before it is set. A 6″ x 36″ tile lays up quickly and leaves less grout to keep clean. The slip rating is R10, which covers floors that see occasional water such as kitchens, bathrooms and entry halls. Because it is frost resistant, it can carry an interior floor out onto a covered patio or three-season room. Centura rates it for floors and walls, so one tile can carry a shower wall down onto the floor with no change of material. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, so it sets with a joint of roughly 2 to 3 mm over a flat substrate. The body measures 9 mm. For a colour match, Centura specifies grout 945 – Light Buff. Boxes hold 10 pieces and cover 14.33 sq ft, or 1.4331 sq ft a piece. It contains recycled content, which can count toward LEED material credits on a certified project.
